Who we are

This website, sharmasahil.in, is operated by Sahil Sharma ("we", "us"), an author selling his own books directly to readers in India. For anything in this policy, contact hello@sharmasahil.in.

What we collect, and why

• When you buy a book: your name, email, phone number and shipping address — used only to process payment, deliver your order, send you order updates, and meet our legal/accounting obligations.
• When you join the newsletter: your email address — used only to send you the newsletter (new releases, early chapters, updates). We record the date, and the IP address the signup came from, as proof of your consent.
• When you submit a review: your name, your review text and (optionally) your email. If we publish the review, your name and review appear on the site; your email never does.
• When you contact us: your name, email and message — used only to reply to you.

We do not collect data we don't need, and we do not use your data for any purpose other than the one you gave it for (purpose limitation under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023).

Payments

Card, UPI, netbanking and wallet payments are processed by Razorpay. Your payment details (card numbers, UPI IDs) go directly to Razorpay over an encrypted connection — we never see or store them. Razorpay's own privacy policy applies to the payment step.

Who we share data with

• Razorpay — to process your payment.
• Courier partners — your name, address and phone number, to deliver your order.
• Our email/newsletter provider — your email address, to deliver messages you asked for.

We never sell your data, and we never share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Cookies & tracking

This site does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Your shopping bag lives only in your browser. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) for security.

How long we keep data

Order records are kept as long as required for accounting and tax law. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Review submissions are kept while the review is published or pending.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can, at any time:

• Access — ask what personal data we hold about you;
• Correct — ask us to fix inaccurate data;
• Erase — ask us to delete your data (except records we must keep by law);
• Withdraw consent — every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw any other consent by emailing us.

To exercise any of these, email hello@sharmasahil.in from the address concerned. We respond within a reasonable time, and you also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS everywhere. Order data is stored in a protected database; access to it is limited to the site owner.

Children

The store is intended for readers aged 18+ or minors with a guardian's involvement; we do not knowingly collect children's data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Meaningful changes will be flagged on the site.
